I’ve previously used a different Plantur 39 Phyto-Caffeine shampoo which I really liked so I thought I’d try the shampoo for coloured and stressed hair because my hair is salon coloured every six weeks. This is a shampoo for hair over forty and the claims are that the shampoo helps hair feel stronger. The shampoo has a lovely citrusy scent. I disregard the suggestion to ‘leave on the scalp for 2 minutes – from application to rinse’, however I do a double wash, so I suppose the shampoo is on the scalp for about 2 minutes. The first application works up to a lovely foamy lather, and after rinsing thoroughly I then do my second wash. Again, only a small amount of shampoo is needed to achieve another foamy lather. I find this shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean, thick and strong, but not something I could easily glide my fingers through. I then apply the matching Plantur 39 conditioner which smooths out my hair. I wash my hair every second to third day and I find that between washes my scalp doesn’t feel itchy (which it can sometimes do) and my hair remains looking and feeling super clean with lots of body and shine.

The conditioner is packaged in a bright green squeezy tube with a flip top lid and contains 150ml of product. The conditioner has a lovely citrusy scent. I use this conditioner after using the matching shampoo. I leave the conditioner in my hair while I shower and then rinse thoroughly. I find that this combination of shampoo and conditioner leaves my hair feeling soft but with a bit of body. My hair is salon coloured every six weeks, so I work on keeping it well hydrated to combat any dryness, and I find this conditioner provides the nourishment my hair needs. I like that my hair is easy to blow dry and style after using the conditioner and that there is added volume and shine.

I’ve been using Neutrogena Visible Repair Regenerating Cream off and on for quite some time now because I find the Neutrogena range of retinol creams to be very effective on my skin. The moisturiser is very light and glides evenly over my skin, absorbing easily. I have mature, dry skin with fine lines creeping in around my mouth and eyes. With continued use of thus cream I’ve found my skin looks a lot brighter and rejuvenated, my skin tone is more even, the skin texture smoother, and my skin just looks more radiant. The fine lines have definitely softened. I highly recommend the Neutrogena Visible Repair Regenerating Cream to anyone with similar skin to mine because it suits my skin so well and it has become a regular product in my skincare routine.

I received a tube of Justice Professional Marine Beauty Scalp Scrub at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The deep blue tube holds 150ml of product and is quite reasonably priced. I’m familiar with Justice Professional products, and I’ve used other brands of scalp scrub products in the past which have been okay but rather messy to use. After using the Justice Professional scalp scrub I think it has a finer texture than other scrubs I’ve used. This one is gentler on the scalp, massages easily and rinses out well enough before I shampoo my hair to remove all the product. It is a more satisfying experience because I can control the scrub as it exfoliates my scalp. I love this product because it makes my scalp feel clean, healthy and well hydrated, and the scent is so refreshing.

I received a Maybelline New York Lifter Stix at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. I appreciated that we were able to test four shades on the day, and I was pleased to find that shade 20 was perfect for me. I find the multi-use face stick to be so soft and buttery that it glides over my skin and blends beautifully to give a natural look. The lightweight formula does not crease or settle in my fine lines, and it is not cakey, so it is perfect as a concealer under my eyes. In fact, this is the best under-eye concealer I’ve used. Normally I don’t contour because previous efforts have just produced a ‘dirty’ look but I’m now enjoying using this face stick as a contour to give my cheeks a more natural sculptured look. I’ve also used the face stick above my top lip as a concealer/primer, and on my eye lids. This versatile product will be travelling with me on my next adventure. Buildable, multi-use and affordable.

I received a bottle of Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. After reading the description of this serum I was eager to see how it worked on my skin. I decided to use this serum during my morning skincare routine because I was already trialling a night serum. An eye dropper is used to dispense the milky white serum making it easy to control how much product to use. The serum is lightweight and spreads easily over my skin and is not tacky or greasy. I like the idea of a serum that gently exfoliates my skin to enhance absorption and maximise hydration, and at the same time brightens my skin. I’ve only been using this serum for two weeks, but I can see already how it plumps my skin and gives a healthy glow. For all skin types and 100% fragrance free. Made in the UK.

I received a tube of DU’IT Tough Hands at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. This product is formulated for dry, rough, cracked, irritated and calloused hands, which doesn’t exactly fit the description of my hands because I use hand creams regularly throughout each day. The hand cream has a medium consistency which rubs in very easily and melts into the skin leaving my hands feeling soft and smooth. Only a small amount is needed to cover both hands. There is no greasy or tacky feeling, and my hands are instantly dry to the touch which means I can get on with whatever I need to do. I’ve also been applying the DU’IT Tough Hands before going to bed, so the cream has time to really do its job of repairing any dryness while I sleep. I believe DU’IT products, which are made in Australia, are reasonably priced and extremely effective.

I received a Nude By Nature Dewy Serum Blush Drops at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. I appreciated that we were able try and choose a shade from the three available – I chose 02 Warm Rose. I either use a cream blush or a gel serum blush because they are more flattering on me, so I was eager to try the Nude by Nature serum drops blush. It is recommended to squeeze only a small drop of blush onto the back of the hand and then use the product from there to control the amount of colour being applied to the cheekbones. This is necessary because the blush is quite pigmented and a tiny drop goes such a long way. Applying the blush over my BB cream gives my cheekbones a warm natural flush of colour which compliments my skin tone. The subtle glow from the blush lifts my cheekbones, and the colour lasts all day. I’m more than pleased with the results and that I now have a new favourite blush.

I received a tube of Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in the shade Red Dahlia at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The lip balm is housed in a small wind-up tube and is easy to apply. This lip balm is made with shea butter and botanical waxes which moisturise and form a protective coating on my lips to help prevent them drying out. My lips feel hydrated at first, but like all lip balms I use I need to regularly re-apply the balm throughout the day when that feeling wears off. Red Dahlia is a gorgeous shade, just perfect for me, so I can easily pop this on when I’m out and about knowing that I have a splash of colour which looks flattering and natural.

I received a Remington AIRvive™ Digital Hair Dryer at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. I wondered how this was going to be any different to the other hair dryers I own but once I had unpacked the box I noticed the sleek design, how lightweight it is and the beautiful colour. My hair is short and I need to lift the roots to add volume, so it doesn’t fall flat. My hair also holds a lot of moisture so it can take a while to blow dry. Switching on the hair dryer I noticed how quiet it was compared to my current hair dryer, and that I could easily adjust the three speed and three heat settings to exactly how I liked them. I use the styling concentrator to control the air flow and reduce the frizz and love that the attachment is magnetic. I’m impressed with this hair dryer because it dries and styles my hair with ease. I also love the short barrel and very comfortable to hold handle which makes it so much easier to manoeuvre around my head to achieve the right angle.
